Cats Sweep Singles, Complete Exhibition Against Team Japan

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona Women's Tennis team competed Friday afternoon against Team Japan at the Robson Tennis Center. They competed in both Singles and Doubles matches and sent out Camila Wesbrooks, Emma Wilson, Gitte Heynemans, Csenge Furak, Sophia Thomas, Taylor Tamblyn, and Talya Zandberg.

The Cats took two out of three doubles matches that took place with the duos of Wilson/Heynemans and Thomas/Furak each walking away with wins. Tamblyn, Thomas, Wilson, Wesbrooks, Heynemans, and Furak all won their singles matches, resulting in a sweep.

Singles

Tamblyn (UA) def. Nakamura (JPN) 6-1, 6-0

Thomas (UA) def. Masutomi (JPN) 6-0, 6-2

Wilson (UA) def. Ito (JPN) 6-4, 6-3

Wesbrooks (UA) def. Takebe (JPN) 6-3, 6-4

Heynemans (UA) def. Saito (JPN) 6-3, 6-3

Furak (UA) def. Honda (JPN) 6-4, 6-2

Doubles

Heynemans/Wilson (UA) def. Ito/Takebe (JPN) 6-2

Thomas/Furak (UA) def. Masutomi/Nakamura (JPN) 6-1

Saito/Honda (JPN) def. Wesbrooks/Zandberg (UA) 7-5

Wildcats compete next Friday against Memphis. Matches will begin 10 a.m. MST.
