TUCSON, Ariz. --Â The Arizona women's golf team added two members to the 2020-2021 squad on Wednesday. Yael Berger from Thun, Switzerland and Tucson local Maya Benita have signed on to join the Wildcats in the fall of 2020.
Â
Berger is currently ranked 482nd in the World Golf Amateur Rankings. She has 13 top-10 finishes in the past two years, highlighted by a win at the 2018 Swiss National Juniors. Her other accolades include a third-place finish at the Girls' British Open Amateur Championship and a top-20 at the Neuchatel Ladies Championship.
Â
Benita is a Tucson native and is a senior at Catalina Foothills High School. She has 13 top-10 finishes in 15 JGAA events this year, and finished tied for second at the State Junior Golf Championship.Â
Â
"I'm very excited about the two commits," said head coach
Laura Ianello. "Yael is a force to be reckoned with on an international stage, having won multiple events over in Europe. Maya Benita is a local talent, an Arizona rising star with a powerful move who has continued to improve her game. Both of them are going to be phenomenal additions to our women's golf team."
