TUCSON, Ariz. – The Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson have announced a significant donation from University of Arizona men's basketball head coach
Sean Miller and his wife, Amy, to enhance the gymnasium at the Roy Drachman Clubhouse in Tucson.
As a result of the donation, the gym floor will be refinished and new logos painted on the floor along with the installation of air conditioning equipment, a feature the building currently does not have.
The court will also be called "The Sean and Amy Miller Court", leaving a lasting legacy for the Roy Drachman Boys & Girls Club young people and the Tucson community.
Currently, there is only a swamp cooler in the gym, which can result in excessively high temperatures during the summer - sometimes exceeding 100 degrees – and forcing various programs to be moved to another location or canceled during the busiest time of the calendar year. The addition of air conditioning will allow for consistent programming throughout the year, impacting children in the Tucson area all year long.
The Roy Drachman Clubhouse supports youth who live in the area of Mission Manor Park, giving them a safe place to become their best selves by joining a club or sports team to stay active throughout the year. Through involvement with the Boys and Girls Club, kids from 7-18 are afforded numerous learning opportunities and personal benefits that last a lifetime. Some of the opportunities include a reliable and fun way to exercise, learning the value of dedication, commitment and problem solving, working together towards a common goal and gaining confidence by achieving goals.
