Warner Leads Cats into 1st on Day 1 of Pac-12 Preview

KAILUA KONA, Hawai'i --The Arizona women's golf team got off to a phenomenal start at the Pac-12 Preview on Monday, shooting 10-under as team to grab a three-shot lead over UCLA.
Freshman Therese Warner had a strong opening round to the tournament, ending the day at 5-under and in a tie for first. Warner was 3-over through five holes but then birdied eight of her final 10 holes to post a round of 68. Warner leads the entire field with eight birdies after round one.
Fellow freshman Vivian Hou continues to show why she is in the top 10 of the ANNIKA Award Watchlist, firing her sixth consecutive under-par round, this time a 2-under 71. Junior Yu-Sang Hou match her younger sister's round of 71, putting them together in a tie for 7th. Both sisters recorded four birdies and two bogeys on the round.
Sophomore Ya Chun Chang played steady golf en route to a 1-under 72, and junior Hollie Muse tallied four birdies and an eagle on her way to a round of 74. All five Wildcats are currently inside the top 24.
"Strong day for the Cats," said head coach Laura Ianello. "The ladies finished at 10-under par led by freshman Therese Warner. Therese was 8-under par her last ten holes of the day, so finished immensely strong, and was followed by the Hou sisters. Vivian shot 2-under and Yu-Sang, flying in yesterday from LPGA event with no practice round, also shot 2-under. Ya Chun Chang finished up at 1-under par, and Hollie Muse finished her round with birdie-eagle-birdie. We've got two more rounds with this really tough competition, but we're looking good."
Play will once again commence at 10:30 a.m. MST. Arizona will be paired with UCLA, Oregon and USC on Tuesday.
