PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- The Arizona Wildcats women's golf team will kick off their spring season this Sunday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
The defending national champions are coming off a strong spring campaign that ended with a win at the Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i. Sophomore Yu-Sang Hou shot 6-under that week to record her first ever collegiate win.
The tournament consists of three 18-hole rounds and will conclude on Tuesday, February 5th. The Cats finished in 4th place last year with a total of 31-over par. The course proved to be exceedingly difficult as UCLA won with a final score of 15-over. Last year's event was Hou's first ever collegiate tournament, and she finished tied for 18th at 8-over.
"We're playing a very hilly golf course coming up," said head coach Laura Ianello. "We've been getting fit. We've been doing some hiking trips. We've been walking a lot, playing a lot of different golf courses in town that give us some uneven lies. Just preparing for the spring. We have a really solid roster, continuing off our success from last, and we're just trying to do all the little things right."
This is the first of six scheduled tournaments for the Cats this spring.
