GymCats Score Two Season Highs at No. 3 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – The No. 25 Arizona GymCats traveled to No. 3 UCLA on Saturday for their fifth Pac-12 matchup of the season. The GymCats earned a final score of 194.975, but UCLA earned a 198.025 to overcome Arizona. Arizona earned two season high scores on the uneven bars and floor, with six GymCats earning season high scores and four earning career high scores.
 
"Having two season high scores was amazing at the half way point of the season," commented head coach John Court. "There were some awesome routines today by the team. We have to work on finishing out regardless of the event that we end on and be better for next week."
 
GymCats Earn Fourth 49.000 or Above on the Uneven Bars
Arizona opened the meet on the uneven bars, tying their season high score of 49.100. Haylie Hendrickson led the rotation, earning a 9.775 for the GymCats. Heather Swanson scored a 9.750 and MacKinzie Kane earned a 9.775. Maddi Leydin earned a 9.825 and Danielle Spencer earned a 9.800. Christina Berg tied her season and career high score of 9.925, as she anchored the lineup for Arizona.
 
Arizona Sets Season High Score on Floor
The GymCats showed their strengths on the floor exercise during the third rotation of the afternoon. For the fourth time this season, the GymCats scored above 49.000 on floor. Heather Swanson and Adra Parks both earned 9.800, and Courtney Cowles tied her season and career high score of 9.825. Maddi Leydin shined for Arizona when she earned a season and career high of 9.900. Christina Berg anchored the rotation for the Cats, tying her season and career high of 9.900.
 
Berg and Hendrickson Place Third on Bars and Beam
In the opening rotation for Arizona, Christina Berg dazzled the crowd as she tied her season and career high of 9.925 on the uneven bars. Berg earned third place on the bars with her amazing routine.
 
In the final rotation for the GymCats, Haylie Hendrickson tied her season high score of 9.850 on the balance beam. Hendrickson's confidence and poise on the beam helped her take home third place.
