LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Arizona women's golf team withstood a tough day at Spanish Trail Country Club to capture a 4-shot lead heading into the final day of the competition.
 
The Wildcats sit at 5-over par with only a couple of holes left to play in the second round after play was suspended due to darkness. Senior Bianca Pagdanganan got things going early for the Cats, birdieing five of her first eight holes of the first round and springing the team into first. Pagdanganan posted rounds of 70 and 71 to finish the day at 3-under and in solo second. The senior also leads the field with 10 birdies thus far.
 
Fellow senior Haley Moore shot 2-over in her first round, but is playing 1-under golf through the first 17 holes of her second round. Sophomore Yu-Sang Hou is a shot back of Moore, after recording three birdies and three birdies en route to a second round 72 (E). Freshman Ya Chun Chang and junior Sandra Nordaas are both in a tie for 23rd at 7-over. Neither has finished their second round.
 
"Super proud of the ladies today," said head coach Laura Ianello. "They fought really hard in some very difficult conditions. The weather here in Las Vegas today was a high of 47, and anywhere from 10-20 mile per hour winds. Just blistering cold. The ladies really showed a lot of heart, led by Bianca Pagdanganan shooting 3-under total going into tomorrow. We still have a couple holes left to finish the second round, and then we will get the third round in gear tomorrow morning and hopefully keep our lead above UNLV on their home course and take home the victory."
 
The conclusion of the second round will begin at 9:30 a.m. MST tomorrow morning, and the third round will commence shortly after.
