Arizona Concludes Second Round of John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHU'E, Hawai'i- The Arizona men's golf program wrapped the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate with a score of 575 (-1), putting them in a tie in 11th for the final round.
"This course offers very little separation so it's important to make at least a few birdies and keep the ball in position around the greens," commented head coach Jim Anderson. "I think we were too tentative with our putting and targets which is why we didn't have as many birdies today. Tomorrow, we will be ready to score on our starting holes and we plan to use the momentum to climb a bunched leaderboard. Briggs was very impressive today. He played under control the entire way and finished an already solid round with a great birdie. This is huge for the team and his confidence going into tomorrow."
Senior Ethan Marcus is still at the top of the Cats leaderboard, with a score of 143 (-1), for a tie in 33rd. The Boca Raton native has made par 27 times in two rounds, the most in the individual field.
Northern California native Brad Reeves shaved one off from his first round, shooting a 71 (-1) to tie in 33rd. The junior eagled par-5, hole one, the only eagle of the competition for the Cats.
Junior Briggs Duce notched four birdies in his second round for an 18-hole score of 69 (-3), his second career lowest score. His second round score was the lowest for the Cats thus far in the competition.
Senior David Laskin shot a 73 for a score of 149 (+3), putting him in a tie for 50th. Rounding out the lineup is sophomore Trevor Werbylo, with a score of 147 (+3).
Individual competitor Tianlang Guan tallied six birdies in the second round to put him in a tie for 25th, shooting a career low 18-hole score of 67 today.
