Tucson, Ariz. – The Wildcats improved their record to 4-1 on the season with a 7-0 victory over the Aggies. The duo of freshman Jonas Ziverts and sophomore Carlos Hassey started the festivities off with a 6-2 victory over seniors Stijn de Haan and Mauri Bentez.  
 
The Cats clinched the doubles point after sophomore Igor Karpovets and senior Jonas Maier defeated juniors Nicolas Buitrago and Luis Flores 6-3. Arizona went on to sweep the Aggies in singles play. The Wildcats look to keep improving with the common goal in mind of establishing their program as a premier destination in collegiate tennis. 
 
 "Glad to come away today with a solid win," said head coach Clancy Shields. "NMSU is always tough, they win their conference consistently and are well coached. I saw some improvement in our doubles today which I was happy with as we've been working a lot in this area. Another solid and consistent performance from Filip, Igor and Alejandro, they are consistent performers day in and day out. Overall I'd like to see our guys bring more intensity to their courts and a higher level of focus. It is still early in the season and this will need to improve if we are serious about being an elite team."        
 
The Wildcats will look to hold down the home court when East Tennessee State comes to Tucson Feb. 15, 2019 at 2 pm (MST).
