TUCSON, Ariz. – For the first time in her career, Christina Berg has been named a WCGA Regular Season Second Team All-American, it was announced Wednesday. Berg was also named All-Pac-12 Second Team on the uneven bars; it was announced Tuesday.
 
The junior from Tinley Park, Ill. has had a breakout season on bars. She opened the season with a career-high score of 9.925 at a quad meet with Central Michigan, Illinois and Bridgeport. Berg topped her career-high when she scored a 9.975 at a quad meet with Texas Women's, Centenary, and Air Force. Two weeks later, she tied her career-high 9.975 at the GymCats' final home meet of the season when they hosted LSU.
 
She is the first GymCat in program history to score a 9.975. During the season, Berg earned above a 9.850 in ten meets and has five individual bars titles, helping her earn Second Team honors.
 
Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), which includes the conference championships, for each event plus the all-around earned All-America honors. Second team All-America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.
 
The GymCats will compete in the first round of the NCAA Regionals on April 4 in Corvallis, Ore. Arizona will take on Iowa in a dual meet to determine who will advance to the second round of competition in Corvallis. In addition to the team competing, five GymCats will be representing Arizona in Corvallis as individual competitors.
