DENTON, Texas – Arizona Gymnastics took home the gold as they earned a season high team score of 196.450 at a quad meet with Texas Women's, Centenary College, and Air Force on Sunday. The GymCats posted two season high team scores on vault and floor of 49.125 and 49.275, respectively. Seven GymCats earned season and career high scores.
Air Force finished second with a final score of 194.625, Texas Women's placed third with a 194.400, and Centenary College finished fourth with a score of 190.425.
"This was our best execution and gymnastics of the season," said head coach
John Court. "They made the choice to be the best version of themselves tonight and it showed."
Arizona Stays on Top from the Beginning
The GymCats opened the quad meet on the uneven bars where they earned a 48.975.
Heather Swanson opened on vault for Arizona with
Haylie Hendrickson following, both earning a 9.700.
Maddi Leydin and
Danielle Spencer both earned a score of 9.800.
Christina Berg impressed the judges with her routine as she anchored for Arizona, earning a season and career high score of 9.975 and placing first on the event.
Moving to the balance beam for the second rotation, Arizona kept their confidence and earned a 49.075.
Kennedi Davis was the first GymCat to perform on beam, posting a season and career high of 9.850 and earning third place.
Courtney Cowles and
Maddi Leydin both scored a 9.775, with Leydin earning a season high score.
Sydney Freidin earned a 9.800 and
Jenny Leung posted a season and career high of 9.825.
Haylie Hendrickson also earned a 9.825 as she anchored for the GymCats.
In the third rotation, the Cats wowed the judges and earned a season high score of 49.275 on the floor exercise.

Courtney Cowles and
Maddi Leydin both earned season and career highs of 9.850 and 9.900, respectively.
Christina Berg finished the rotation for Arizona with a 9.875 on floor. Leydin placed first and Berg tied for second place individually.
Arizona finished the meet confidently on vault, where they posted a season high score of 49.125.
Jenny Leung was the first GymCat to vault, tying her season high of 9.775.
MacKinzie Kane scored a 9.700.
Kennedi Davis earned a season and career high of 9.825.
Adra Parks and
Heather Swanson both earned a season high score of 9.825, with Parks also tying her career high. Davis, Parks, and Swanson tied for third place individually.
Maddi Leydin tied her season and career high score of 9.875 and earning first place on the event.
Leydin Places First in the All-Around
Maddi Leydin competed in the all-around competition for the ninth meet this season, taking home the gold and setting a season and career high score of 39.350. Leydin earned a season high score on the balance beam with a 9.775 and tied her season and career high scores on vault with a 9.875 and on floor with a 9.900. She placed first individually on vault and floor.
