MIRAMAR, Fla. – Both
PJ Austin and
James Smith qualified for the 2019 U20 Pan American Championships this weekend after winning their respective events at the USA Track & Field U20 Championships. The top two marks from each event qualified for the Pan American Championships.
Â
On Saturday, Austin won the long jump with a personal-best leap of 7.74m (25-4.75) and Smith won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.29 on Sunday. Austin also set a new personal best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.46, but it wasn't enough to qualify for the Pan American Championships.
