TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona sophomore
Trevor Werbylo was one of 32 golfers named honorable mention Division I PING All-America, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America last week.
Werbylo is the program's 56
th player to receive All-America honors all-time. Werbylo played in all 13 tournaments for the Wildcats this season and had 22 rounds of par or better, which led the squad.
The Tucson native was an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection after leading the Wildcats to postseason play for the second straight season. He had a stellar sophomore campaign, leading the team in average, rounds under par, and Top 20 finishes.
Werbylo capped the season with a scoring average of 70.72, which is the third-best mark in school history. His career scoring average of 72.10 currently ranks fifth in program history behind
Chris Nallen, Ricky Barnes,
George Cunningham and Henry Liaw. He also lives in the history books as the lowest round in relation to par, after shooting a 10-under 62 at one of Arizona's home events, the N.I.T. His 36-hole score of 132 (-12) is the fifth lowest in school history.
The Salpointe Catholic High School product will look to continue to build on his career accomplishments next season as a junior.
