TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona Volleyball will start the season in the AVCA Top 25, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday. The Wildcats are No. 24 in the preseason rankings.
Arizona finished 2018 tied for 25th in the final AVCA Top 25 a season ago; UA was ranked in the final 11 polls of the season.
All-time, the Wildcats have now spent 326 weeks in the AVCA Top 25, which ranks 10th in the NCAA. This marks the third time in the last five years that Arizona has been ranked in the top 25.
Arizona is one of six Pac-12 teams in the poll, joining Stanford (#1), Oregon (#11), Washington (#13), USC (#14) and Washington State (#22). In addition to the five other Pac-12 opponents, Arizona is also scheduled to play No. 2 Nebraska (9/6).
Arizona returns all four starters and 11 total players from a 22-win team a season ago, when the Wildcats appeared in their eighth NCAA Tournament in the last 10 years. Those 11 returners are joined by four newcomers -- three freshmen and one junior transfer.
