Celebrate International Women's Day With the Wildcats

TUCSON, Ariz. – International Women's Day, observed globally, is a celebration of the many achievements of women throughout history. Sunday, March 8 marks the 2020 official recognition of this important holiday.

A heritage of accomplishments and accolades of women at Arizona Athletics has impacted Wildcat history. Of Arizona's 22 national championships, 15 have been women by women's programs. The University of Arizona is also home to four NCAA Woman of the Year award winners, which leads the NCAA.

And on this special day, two of our women's programs will be in action at home. No. 24 Arizona Gymnastics will host a three-team meet at 2 p.m. (MST) inside McKale Center. It is the final home meet of the 2020 season for the GymCats, and the program will honor their six seniors is a ceremony following the meet.

Arizona Softball, owners of eight national championship titles, will host Indiana on the final day of the Wildcat Invitational at Hillenbrand Stadium. Ranked fourth in the nation, Arizona is home to one of the top environments in college softball. Hillenbrand Stadium was completely renovated just over a year ago and now continues its tradition of being an iconic home venue.
