TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats had three golfers recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association this week.
Freshman
Vivian Hou, junior
Yu-Sang Hou and sophomore
Ya Chun Chang were all named All-Americans by the WGCA. Vivan Hou, who led the Wildcats in scoring average this season at 70.68 and had three second place finishes, was named a First-Team All-American, joining 10 others.
Yu-Sang Hou earned Second Team honors. She placed in the top 20 in all five of her events this season and had a scoring average of 72.00. Chang put together a scoring average of 72.58 with four top 20 finishes to earn honorable mention recognition.
Vivian Hou, also a two-time Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Month, had a brilliant start to her collegiate career in 2019-20 to earn All-America honors. Hou shot -8 at the first tournament of her career, the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, to finish in second place out of a 60-person field. After a 35
th place finish at the Windy City Classic, Hou didn't finish lower than fourth in her final five tournaments.
She finished second at the Stanford Intercollegiate and the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, third at the Hurricane Invitational and fourth at the East Lake Cup and the Pac-12 Preview. Sixteen of her 19 rounds were at par or better. No other Wildcat golfer had more than 10 rounds of par or better.
Yu-Sang Hou, a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection in 2018-19 as a sophomore, had a banner junior season, teaming up with her sister at the top of the Arizona lineup. She opened the year with a pair of top 10 finishes, placing sixth at the Windy City Classic and fifth at the Stanford Intercollegiate. She finished her season with a pair of 12
th place finishes at the Hurricane Invitational and the Arizona Wildcat Invitational.
Chang had her best showing of the season at the Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i, where she finished tied for fourth at -6. She also took sixth at the East Lake Cup and tied for 11
th at the Windy City Classic. Her low round of the season was a 69 in the second round of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational.
