Werbylo Named Division I PING All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona junior Trevor Werbylo was named third-team Division I PING All-American, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.

It is Werbylo's second All-American recognition of his career. He was named an honorable mention selection last year as a sophomore. He is the 15th golfer in program history to be named an All-American multiple times in his career.

Werbylo is Arizona's 57th All-American and 31st to earn third-team or better honors. The selection was certainly warranted after Werbylo's standout season this past year as a junior.

In his 24 rounds this season, Werbylo put together a scoring average of 70.04, which is the second-best mark in school history. Only current assistant coach Chris Nallen posted a lower average when he finished the 2003-04 season at 69.79 in 43 rounds.

The junior from Tucson managed 18 rounds of par or better, while securing five Top 10 finishes and six Top 20 finishes.

In his second tournament of the season, Werbylo finished -7 to finish tied for second at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. He also finished second at the Saint Mary's Invitational and the Arizona Intercollegiate.

Werbylo also finished tied for seventh at the Cabo Collegiate at four-under par and tied for ninth at the Oregon State Invitational at even par. He also had a strong showing at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i, finishing tied for 12th at -3.

The two-time All-American finished his season with 10 rounds in the 60s. He twice shot a 65, first in the second round of the William H. Tucker and then in the opening round of the Arizona Intercollegiate.

The Wildcats have now had All-American recognition for three straight seasons. Prior to Werbylo's honorable mention selection last season, George Cunningham was named Second-Team All-American in 2018.
