Women's Tennis Signs USF Transfer Emily Maxfield

Tucson, Ariz. -- Head women's tennis coach Ryan Stotland signed transfer Emily Maxfield to join the team in the fall of 2020. Maxfield is transfering from the University of San Francisco after finishing with a ranking of No. 87 in the nation and will be joining Arizona as a graduate student.

"Emily is bringing a wealth of experience to Arizona," Stotland said. "She is currently ranked number 87 in the country in singles and a terrific doubles player.  She has high standards for herself and for her team.  We are very excited to have her join us and  do special things here.  Throughout the recruiting process, her passion to be an Arizona Wildcat was what truly stood out.  She will be a proud Wildcat for life and that was very evident.  She will represent us well and we look forward to adding her wealth of knowledge of her college experience to our team to help build on what we were already doing."

Maxfield recorded a team-best record of 13-2 at the No. 2 position, which is the most wins she has collected in one season. She also had the longest winning streak throughout the season winning 11 in a row.

Maxfield is from Murrieta,Calif. And her favorite professional player is Kim Clijsters. She is most excited about joining a competitive athletic and academic program.

"I chose Arizona because of the outstanding competitiveness of the tennis program and the prestigious marketing program," Maxfield said. "I am most excited about competing in such a great conference and challenging myself to play at a higher level everyday."
