TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Wildcats freshman
Vivian Hou has officially moved to No. 1 in the most recent World Amateur Golf Ranking, it was revealed this week.
Hou, who was named the Women's Golf Coaches Association Freshman of the Year in April, along with being a First-Team All-American, has played three recent tournaments on the LPGA Tour of Taiwan as an amateur. She has finished 13
th or better in all three events, which has catapulted her to the No. 1 spot in the WAGR.
A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Hou had three second-place finishes during the 2019-20 season for the Wildcats and twice was named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month. She finished in fourth place or better in six of the seven tournaments she played in for the Wildcats and was named a finalist for the ANNIKA Award, which is given to the top women's collegiate player in the country.
Hou's success for the Wildcats combined with her stellar play as an amateur on the TLPGA Tour have moved her into the No. 1 spot. Those results factor into a formula that determine a points ranking. Hou is No. 1 ahead of Sweden's Ingrid Lindblad, who plays collegiately at LSU.
Hou most recently played on the LPGA Tour last weekend at the YICHEN Future Open, finishing 10
th.
