APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – The trio of Wildcats competing as individuals at the 2021 Superstition Challenge completed the two-day event with finishes of 15^th, 15^th and 18^th in Arizona's first tournament action in 10 months. Sophomores Gile Bite Starkute and Therese Warner finished tied for 15^th at 10-over par in blistery winds and stormy conditions throughout Sunday and Monday. Freshman Maya Benita, in her collegiate debut, finished six strokes behind her teammates in 18^th place.

"We were able to pinpoint some weaknesses this week in preparation for the Lamkin Invitational next week," said head coach Laura Ianello. "The ladies battled some tough conditions this week and gained some valuable experience. Playing this event is a key first step to continuing to develop and improve ahead of our next tournament."

The Wildcats playing roster was not at full strength for the event as the decorated trio Vivan Hou, Ya Chun Chang and Yu-Sang Hou did not participate in the event. The three participated in an event in their home of Taiwan earlier in the month and are in the process of returning to Tucson to for the bulk of the Wildcats' spring season.

Arizona will return to action on Monday, Feb. 8 at the prestigious Lamkin Invitational, which will mark the Cats' first participation in the event since 2017 when it was known as the SDSU Mayhem Classic. The 2021 Lamkins Invitational, hosted by San Diego State University, will be played at the Farms Golf Club in Santa Fe, California.
