STANFORD, Calif. – Arizona fell 3-0 to No. 17 Stanford on Sunday to close out the weekend.
Puk Stubbe led the Wildcats with nine kills, but the Cardinal hit .380 to win in three sets.
Set 1 | Arizona - 15, Stanford - 25
Stanford won the first set 25-15.
Jaelyn Hodge,
Sofia Maldonado Diaz, and Stubbe each had two kills. Maldonado Diaz also recorded an ace.
Emery Herman and
Merle Weidt had a block assist, but the Cardinal hit .455 in the first set to take the early lead.
Set 2 | Arizona - 18, Stanford - 25
Three Wildcats recorded two kills each in the second set, but the Cardinal won 25-18.
Zyonna Fellows slowed down Stanford's offense with two block assists, with the help of Hodge and Maldonado Diaz. Herman served an ace and had seven assists to help the Wildcats tie the score 12 times during the second set.
Set 3 | Arizona - 16, Stanford - 25
The Cardinal took the third set 25-16 to win the match. Stubbe found her rhythm in the third set, knocking down five kills on .556 hitting and tallying a block assist with
Nicole Briggs. Hodge and Maldonado Diaz both recorded two kills, with Hodge assisting
Alayna Johnson on a block assist. Herman served another ace and had nine assists, but the Cardinal come out victorious.
