TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats beat California in straight sets on Sunday to complete the weekend sweep.
Puk Stubbe dominated the match with career highs of 17 kills and a .517 hitting percentage. Arizona had seven blocks and held the Golden Bears to just 29 kills during the match.
Set 1 | Arizona - 25, California - 15
Arizona dominated the first set, winning 25-15.
Sofia Maldonado Diaz, Stubbe, and
Merle Weidt each tallied four kills and one block assist for the Cats.
Kamaile Hiapo served three aces to help Arizona take the early lead in the set.
Zyonna Fellows had two block assists and Maldonado Diaz also had a solo block.
Emery Herman directed the offense with 12 assists and a block assist.
Set 2 | Arizona - 26, California - 24
The Cats won the second set, 26-24, despite California fighting hard to tie the match. Stubbe led Arizona again with seven kills.
Jaelyn Hodge knocked down four kills and Weidt had three kills. Fellows and Herman combined for a block assist to hold back the Golden Bears and take the 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3 | Arizona - 25, California - 18
Arizona won the third set 25-18 to complete the sweep over California. Maldonado Diaz and Stubbe had 13 of Arizona's 15 kills in the third set. Hiapo tallied two aces and Herman recorded one ace and 11 assists to lead the Cats to a straight-set victory.
