TUCSON, ARIZ. – Three Wildcats have been selected to participate in the 2022 USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Trials, held January 1-6 in Vero Beach, Florida.
Sophomores Janelle Meoño and
Sharlize Palacios and alumna
Dejah Mulipola (2021) will vie for a spot on the 18-player roster that will compete at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mulipola, a two-time NFCA Catcher of the Year and two-time All-American, has been a member of the Women's National Team for three years and most recently helped them win the silver medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Meoño, the reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and Pac-12 Batting Champion, is entering her sophomore year with Arizona. She became the first freshman at Arizona to hit .439 in a single season since head coach
Caitlin Lowe hit .437 in 2004.
Palacios, a first team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Freshman honoree, enters her sophomore season with the Wildcats. Last season, she recorded a .715 slugging percentage which ranks fifth in Arizona freshman history.
