Wildcats Wrap Up U.S. Olympic Trials

TUCSON, Ariz. – The 2021 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials came to a close on Sunday with seven Wildcats wrapping up their season on the big stage.
Results
Jordan Geist threw for 19.72m (64-8.5) in the shot put qualifying round to advance to the final where he threw a season-best mark of 20.80m (68-3) to finish seventh overall. He was one of only two collegians to finish in the top 10.
Israel Oloyede punched his ticket to the final round of the hammer throw with a qualifying mark of 70.46m (231-2). He threw for 68.21m (223-9) to finish 11th in the final.
Samantha Noennig threw for 17.65m (57-11) in the shot put qualifying round, good to advance to the final where she finished with a mark of 16.69m (54-9.25).
Shannon Meisberger advanced to the 400mH semifinal with a qualifying time of 57.51. She ran 57.22 in the semis to finish 10th.
Johnnie Blockburger put a cap on his historic freshman 400m campaign after clocking a time of 46.75 in the 400m first round to finish 25th.
Lillian Lowe cleared a mark of 1.77m (5-9.75) in the women's high jump qualifying round to take 21st. On the men's side, Justice Summerset wrapped up his collegiate career at his first trip to the trials.
Wildcat alums Nnenya Hailey and Lawi Lalang also competed. Hailey put up a PR time of 54.24 in the semis to advance to the final where she ultimately faced disqualification. Lalang clocked a time of 13:55.32 in the first round of the men's 5000m to finish 21st.
