CEDAR CITY, Utah – The GymCats fell to Southern Utah 196.550-195.500 in their season opener. Junior Malia Hargrove led the way for Arizona, earning a 39.200 in the all-around to win the event.
 
Freshmen Alysen Fears and Emily Mueller along with sophomore transfer Lara Burhans made their collegiate debuts at Southern Utah. Fears earned a 9.750 on vault and a remarkable 9.850 on the uneven bars and the balance beam. Mueller posted a 9.750 on vault, 9.775 on bars, and 9.70 on floor.
 

Uneven Bars

The GymCats started the meet strong on bars, earning a 49.050. Fears led Arizona with a 9.850, followed by Bailey McCabe with a 9.825. Hargrove and MacKinzie Kane each earned a 9.80 and Mueller posted a 9.775.
 

Vault

Arizona earned a 48.925 on vault. Every GymCat earned a 9.725 or above on the event. Hargrove paced the GymCats with a 9.850, tied for second place on the event. Danielle Nosek earned a career high 9.825 and Caroline Herry, Fears, and Mueller each scored a 9.750.
 

Floor Exercise

In the third rotation, Arizona posted a 48.825 on floor. Hargrove once again led the GymCats with a 9.850 and tied for first place. Libby Orman scored a 9.80 and Jessica Castles earned a 9.75. Herry made her debut on floor with a 9.725, followed by Mueller's 9.70.
 

Balance Beam

The GymCats closed out the meet on beam with a 48.700. Fears earned an impressive 9.850 to finish in a tie for second place. Castles scored a 9.775 and Hargrove earned a 9.70. Sirena Linton anchored the event with a 9.825.
