TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Men's Tennis will welcome newly signed Dominique Rolland of West Hills, Calif. to the team in August 2022.
Rolland, a high school senior, has a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 12 and is ranked No. 178 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Ranking.
"We are very excited to welcome Dominique to our Wildcat family. I have been tracking Dominique's results over the past few years and he has been consistently improving and building his game. He is now one of the elite players in the country and ranked in the top 200 in the world," said Shields.
"He plays with ease, he's creative on court, and has a unique flow to his game. His effortless style will suit him well at the next level and he will certainly help elevate our program here. We are looking forward to working with Dominique and his arrival in August!"
Rolland beat three top 100 ITF Junior world ranked players within the last three months. He plans to compete in the three remaining Junior Grand Slam tournaments, the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open before kicking off his college career in Tucson, Ariz.
"I was nervous to make my decision about college so I pretty much just focused on my ITF tournaments and traveled a lot. Although I really enjoyed going to Tucson to see the campus, meet the coaches and team and check out the facilities, I still was wavering a bit," said Rolland.
"But, after some deep thought, I knew that the University of Arizona was the perfect place for me to spend the next four years! I am really excited about being part of the Wildcats family and playing tennis at U of A. Bear down!"
