LOS ANGELES – Arizona lost to UCLA in four sets, 21-25, 15-25, 26-24, 18-25, on Friday night.
Arizona's offense was led by
Sofia Maldonado Diaz with 13 kills and
Jaelyn Hodge with 12 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.
Zyonna Fellows tallied six blocks – one solo and five block assists.
UCLA took the first set, 25-21. In a back-and-forth set,
Jaelyn Hodge led Arizona with five kills, but the Bruins held the Cats to a .094 hitting percentage.
The Bruins won Set 2, 25-15. The set started close, but UCLA went on a 5-0 run to take the lead at 10-14. Arizona was limited to just nine kills in the set.
The Wildcats took the third set, 26-24. Arizona had the lead at 23-20, but UCLA went on a 4-0 run to make it 24-23. The Cats went on a 3-0 run to end the set and force a fourth set. Maldonado Diaz led the attack for Arizona, recording seven kills and hit .385.
Ana Heath served two aces to help Arizona win the set.
UCLA won the fourth set, 25-18, to win the match. Arizona went on an early 4-0 run to start the set, but the Bruins took the lead late in the set. Maldonado Diaz recorded four kills, but UCLA served three aces to secure the match win.
Arizona will take on USC on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. MST on Pac-12 Networks.
