Multiple Wildcats Post Season Highs Against Arizona State

TUCSON, Ariz -- The Arizona Wildcats saw multiple season and career highs against in-state rival ASU but ultimately fell to the Sun Devils 196.600 to 196.400.Ā 

"I want to give our team a lot of credit for stepping up and hitting their last two events," said Head Coach John Court. "They are getting so close and they know it."Ā 

Alysen Fears won the all-around for the second week in a row with a 39.350, scoring a season high and two career highs. Fears and Malia Hargrove tied for first on floor with two season highs of 9.900.

"There were some amazing individual performers," Court said. "Aly Fears just crushed it."Ā 

"As a freshman I was notĀ expecting this, coming in with the difficulty I had," said freshman Alysen Fears. "I was not sure that this is how I would be competing but I am and I love it."Ā 

Vault
Arizona started off the meet on vault, earning a 48.875. Malia Hargrove finished out the rotation with an event high of 9.825.Ā 

Uneven Bars
Arizona earned a 49.000 on the uneven bars in the second rotation. Both Elena Deets and Bailey McCabe tied their season highs of 9.825 in the back half the event with freshman Alysen Fears finishingĀ it off withĀ a career high of 9.875.Ā 

Beam
The Wildcats scored their second highest overall on the balance beam, finishing with a 49.175. This is their third highest beam score of their season. Sirena Linton and Jessica Castles led the group with a 9.850 and 9.875 with Fears and Emily Mueller coming in right behind with 9.825s.

Floor Exercise
Arizona concluded the meet with their highest score of 49.350, beating Arizona State's 48.950. This is Arizona's second highest floor exercise score of the 2022 season. Both Hargrove and Fears scored 9.900s, with Fears setting both a season and career record, and Hargrove setting a season record. Mueller set both a season and career record as well, receiving a 9.850. Caroline Herry met both her season and career records with a 9.875.

All-Around
Fears and Mueller competed in the all-around for the third week in a row. Fears walked away with first with a 39.350 and Mueller placed third with a 39.200.
