TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 9 Wildcats (3-1) defeated the New Mexico Lobos (2-2) to close out the Candrea Classic. Hanah Bowen threw a shutout to help Arizona win 1-0.
 
Blaise Biringer had two hits for Arizona – a single and a double – and three other Cats had one hit each. Sophia Carroll scored the only run of the game on an RBI fielder's choice from Sharlize Palacios in the bottom of the third inning.
 
Bowen (2-1) picked up the win after she threw a complete game and only allowed two hits from New Mexico. She struck out four of the batters she faced. Bowen finished the opening weekend with a 1.66 ERA and struck out 13 batters. She appeared in three of Arizona's four games during the weekend.
 
New Mexico's pitcher Emma Guindon fell to 1-1 after the loss, allowing five hits, one walk and striking out two Wildcats.
