BERKELEY, Calif. – The GymCats posted their third-straight score of 196 or above with a 196.025 against Cal. Six GymCats earned career highs, and
Malia Hargrove and
Caroline Herry both earned 9.925 on floor for first place.
"We are enjoying watching the team grow throughout the season," head coach
John Court said. "They are a tough group and showed that Bear Down spirit when it was needed in the second half."
Hargrove earned three career highs on beam, floor, and the all-around to help push Arizona to one of their best road scores of the season.
"Moments like those, when I go out and compete my best, are the reason for continuing the grind," said Hargrove about earning three career highs.
Uneven Bars
The GymCats competed on bars first, posting a 48.800.
Elena Deets tied her career high of 9.875, the highest score on bars for Arizona during the meet to tie for third place.
Alysen Fears earned a 9.75 and Hargrove,
Bailey McCabe and
Emily Mueller each posted 9.725.
Vault
On vault, Arizona earning a 48.875. Fears and Mueller earned career highs of 9.80 on vault.
Danielle Nosek also earned a 9.80 and Herry scored a 9.75.
Elizabeth LaRusso made her collegiate debut with a 9.725.
Floor Exercise
The GymCats scored a 49.250 on floor, their second-best floor score of the season. Fears, Hargrove, and Herry shined in the back half of the floor lineup. Fears tied her career high of 9.90 in the middle of the lineup. Herry earned a career best 9.925 in the fifth spot and Hargrove followed Herry with her own career high 9.925.
Balance Beam
Arizona closed out the meet on beam, posting a 49.100. Deets and Fears each earned a 9.75 on the event. Herry and Mueller scored 9.80s and
Sirena Linton posted a 9.85. Hargrove tied her career high of 9.90 and placed second on the event.
All-Around
Fears, Hargrove, and Mueller competed in the all-around. Hargrove finished third with a career best 39.250. Fears placed fourth and Mueller finished fifth in the event.
