GymCats Post 196.375 in Home Finale Win

TUCSON, Ariz. – In their third straight home meet, Arizona earned a 196.375 to beat Sacramento State who earned a 192.475. Four GymCats posted career high scores, with Caroline Herry earning a career best on vault and a season high on beam.
 
"We accomplished what we needed to tonight by earning a 196," head coach John Court said. "We're at the point in the season where we have to increase our NQS, and the athletes did a great job getting us to the 196.325 that they scored."

Jessica Castles earned a career high on vault with a 9.875 and scored a 9.85 on beam to earn Gymnast of the Meet.   
 
"It felt good to get out there and do what I did on vault and beam," said Castles. "My vault felt amazing and I was so comfortable on beam today."
 
Vault
The GymCats opened the meet on vault with a 49.050. Herry started the rotation with her career high 9.80 and Castles followed with her career best 9.875. Danielle Nosek tied her career high of 9.825 to help Arizona take the lead after the first rotation.
 
Uneven Bars
On bars, Arizona posted a 49.100 with Malia Hargrove tying her career high of 9.85 in the anchor position. MacKinzie Kane posted a 9.825 and Bailey McCabe and Elena Deets followed with back-to-back 9.85s.
 
Balance Beam
The GymCats scored 49.125 on beam in the third rotation. Alysen Fears and Hargrove posted 9.775s and Herry tied her season best 9.825. Sirena Linton anchored with a 9.90 to nearly give the Cats a three-point lead heading into the final rotation.
 
Floor Exercise
Arizona closed out the meet with a 49.100 on floor. Libby Orman opened with a 9.80 and Hargrove anchored with a 9.80. Emily Mueller posted a 9.825. Herry scored a 9.90, her second time earning a 9.90 this season.
 
All-Around
Hargrove and Mueller competed in the all-around. The pair took first and second place in the event, with Hargrove scoring a 39.150 and Mueller earning a 39.075.
