TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona placed third in the first session of the Pac-12 Championships with a 196.375. Junior
Malia Hargrove placed first in the all-around with a career high 39.475.
"All season, we talk about controlling the controllable and we did that today," said head coach
John Court. "The team went 24-for-24 and fought their way through the meet. Malia won the all-around for the session and I couldn't be prouder of the team, coaches, and staff. We will find out where our NCAA Regional will be on Tuesday.
Balance Beam
The GymCats started off the meet on beam with a 49.225.
Alysen Fears and
Caroline Herry both posted 9.80s and
Elena Deets and
Malia Hargrove each earned 9.825.
Emily Mueller earned a 9.875 and
Sirena Linton posted a 9.90 to open the Championships. Linton's 9.90 was good for a fifth place finish overall.
Floor Exercise
On floor in the second rotation, Arizona earned a 49.050. Mueller scored a 9.775 and Herry posted a 9.80. Deets earned a 9.85 and Hargorve posted a 9.875 in the anchor position.
Vault
The GymCats earned a 48.900 on vault. Herry earned a 9.725 and Mueller and
Danielle Nosek posted a pair of 9.75s.
Jessica Castles scored 9.80 and Hargrove anchored with a 9.875 to place sixth overall.
Uneven Bars
On bars, Arizona posted a 49.200 on bars. Mueller scored a 9.775 and
MacKinzie Kane posted a 9.80. Deets earned a 9.825 and Fears and Hargrove posted back-to-back 9.90s to close out the rotation and tie for sixth place between both sessions.
All-Around
Hargrove and Mueller competed in the all-around for the GymCats. Hargrove took home first place in Session 1 and fourth place overall with a career best 39.475. Mueller earned a 39.175 in the event.
"I went into the meet with the intention to leave everything on the floor for my team," said Hargrove. "Winning the all-around for the first session was the cherry on top to having a great team qualify to regionals!"
