TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 25 Arizona (33-20, 8-16 Pac-12) fell to Stanford, 4-3, in the regular season finale.
Four Wildcats had multiple hits with
Carlie Scupin leading the team with three hits and one RBI.
Stanford (36-19, 11-13 Pac-12) took an early two-run lead, scoring one in the first and one in the second.
Jasmine Perezchica drove in the first run for Arizona with an RBI single to put the Cats in striking distance.
The Cardinal added two more in the fifth on a pair of RBI singles to give them a three-run lead.
Hanah Bowen retired the next seven batters to give the Wildcats a chance at a comeback.
In the seventh, Arizona scored on an RBI fielder's choice and an RBI double from Scupin to make it a one-run game with two outs. Unfortunately, the Cardinal kept the Wildcats from scoring the tying run on a groundout to the pitcher.
Bowen (10-10) pitched her final complete game at Hillenbrand Stadium. She struck out four batters and allowed three runs in the loss.
