TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona scored a 195.875 to win their home opener and upset No. 15 Illinois, Texas Woman's, and Bowling Green. The Fighting Illini took home second place a 195.725. Texas Woman's placed third with a 193.750 and Bowling Green earned a 192.050 to place fourth.
Three GymCats earned event titles in the quad meet.
Malia Hargrove took home first place on vault with a 9.825 and on floor with a 9.90.
Alysen Fears tied her career high of 9.90 on bars to take home the gold.
Sirena Linton posted a 9.85 on beam to win the event crown.
Vault
Arizona earned a 48.600 on vault to open the meet. Hargrove led the GymCats with a 9.825 on the event.
Jessica Castles posted a 9.750.
Uneven Bars
The GymCats posted a 49.075 on bars in the second rotation. Fears tied her career high with a 9.90 to lead the way for Arizona. Hargrove posted a 9.85 to place second on the event and Linton earned a 9.825 to finish in third place.
Elena Deets opened the rotation with a 9.80.
Balance Beam
Arizona earned a 49.000 on beam. Linton led the GymCats with a 9.85 to win the event title and Castles followed with a 9.825 to place third. Fears earned a 9.80 as the leadoff.
Emily Mueller scored a 9.80 and
Caroline Herry earned a 9.725.
Floor Exercise
The GymCats earned a 49.200 on floor to complete the comeback. Hargrove led the way with a 9.90 and Castles followed with a 9.875.
Elizabeth LaRusso and Mueller both earned a 9.825 and
Libby Orman posted a 9.775 to push Arizona into first place.
