TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke has promoted Joe McLean to Senior Associate A.D. for Revenue Generation. McLean will serve on the department's executive team while overseeing all ticketing operations and sales, marketing and annual giving while working as Arizona's primary liaison with Learfield for licensing and multimedia sponsorships. The UArizona graduate has spent the past nine years working in the department in a variety of key revenue generation and fundraising positions.
"We are excited to promote Joe to this new position in the department after nearly nine years of outstanding leadership in a variety of areas," Heeke said. "Joe is a proud Wildcat with tremendous relationships throughout our University of Arizona community with significant experience in revenue generation and ticketing. Elevating him to our executive team will tap into his extensive knowledge base and ensure we grow revenue generation opportunities. As we continue to position ourselves for additional department excellence, Joe will play a vital role in Arizona Athletics fulfilling its "Wildcat Way" mission to develop academic, athletic and life champions."
McLean was promoted to Associate A.D., Development and Revenue Generation last year after serving as Arizona's Assistant A.D. for Strategic Analytics & Revenue Generation since August of 2018. Some of the notable successes of McLean's fundraising efforts include raising $5.1 million from his portfolio of major gift donors that also saw him maintain an average renewal rate of 93%. He also was an integral part of the development efforts to raise $8.5 million for the Ginny L. Clements Academic Center, Arizona's facility enhancement campaign of $67.9 million and the McKale Center renovation project of $32 million.
Prior to returning to his alma mater in 2018, McLean spent two years as the Director of Premium Seating at the University of New Mexico. He was responsible for all aspects of Lobo Athletics' premium seating sales, marketing and customer service. McLean's professional career began with the Phoenix Suns where he worked as a Season Sales Account Executive from 2011 to 2013.
The Arizona native was born in Prescott and grew up in Phoenix before graduating from the prestigious Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona in 2010. He worked as an intern in the Wildcat Club and McKale Center Ticket Office while a student at Arizona. McLean also holds a Master's in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico.
