Wildcat Wednesday

Wildcat Wednesday - Arizona Football Returns Home

After a bye week following our dominant victory at Washington State, Arizona Football returns to action this weekend when the No. 11 Oregon State Beavers come to Tucson. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MST) at Arizona Stadium on ESPN and Wildcats Radio 1290. There is an incredible buzz of excitement surrounding Coach Fisch and the Wildcats, and we can't wait to experience another memorable gameday on the campus of the University of Arizona.

We are hosting a Stripe Out for Saturday's game with white and red, so please consult our seating map to coordinate your gameday gear with your section. We are also hosting Cats Combat Cancer night at Arizona Stadium as we help raise awareness in a variety of ways, which include pink accessories for student-athletes and cheer squad as well as in-game recognitions.

Saturday is gearing up to be a special evening on campus, and we can't wait to see the Wildcat Family filling the stands. There's nothing quite like Arizona Stadium, packed with the Wildcat Family, cheering on our student-athletes. If you don't have tickets yet for Saturday's game against OSU, please click here to get yours. Bear Down and Go Cats!

BEAR DOWN DELANEY SCHNELL

Did you know that the University of Arizona is tied for the most NCAA Woman of the Year award winners in Division I? Arizona Athletics is now in pursuit of excellence in striving for a fifth winner in department history as All-American and national champion diver Delaney Schnell is one of 10 NCAA Division I semifinalists for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Delaney's career as a student-athlete epitomizes our "Wildcat Way" mission to develop academic, athletic and life champions. The Tucson native was selected as the Pac-12 Conference's Woman of the Year this summer after representing the Block A with recognition, honor and distinction. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select a total of three finalists from the Division I level with this year's winner being announced in January in Phoenix.

Congrats again Delaney on another terrific honor and for representing the University of Arizona, Arizona Athletics and the Southern Arizona community with pride.

HALL OF FAME PROFILE

Our spotlight series on this year's Arizona Sports Hall of Fame class continues this week with John Perrin. The longtime administrator is one of eight inductees for 2023 after nearly four decades as our athletics department Chief Financial Officer. A part of the leadership of Arizona Athletics, John was on staff as our department won 20 of its 22 team national championships. His tenure also included key financial commitments and facility enhancements across the board in support of our "Wildcat Way" mission to develop academic, athletic and life champions.

John and his fellow members of this year's hall of fame class will officially be inducted at our ceremony at 5:15 p.m. (MST) on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Westin La Paloma. Click here to purchase tickets.

CROSS COUNTRY AT PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS

We want to wish our outstanding young women and men on our cross country teams the best of luck this week at the Pac-12 Championships. Postseason competition is when Wildcats compete on the biggest of stages while representing the Block A.

The 2023 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships begin at 10 a.m. (MST) on Friday, Oct. 27 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington. The Pac-12 Networks will air coverage of the event, and here is some helpful information on how to watch.

Good luck Cats! The entire Wildcat Family will be cheering you on from around the globe!

THE PRIDE OF ARIZONA NEEDS YOUR HELP
Arizona Athletics is a proud supporter of the Pride of Arizona Marching Band and has recently partnered in an effort to raise money for new uniforms. Please consider giving back to a program that has supported our athletics community over the years, as they look to replace the uniforms heading into the 2024 season.

Smith and Friend Making History As ITA Southwest Regional Champions
The Wildcats racked up a total of 34 wins, 27 of them being in the main draw of both doubles and singles. Two of these victories rewrote program history as Colton Smith was awarded singles champion and joined partner Jay Friend in receiving doubles champions. Arizona was in it to win it from the beginning.
