TUCSON - Kailyn Gilbert had 17 points and 10 rebounds and six Wildcats scored in double digits on Sunday to defeat Seattle 89-52. Arizona (9-4, 1-0 Pac-12) concluded non-conference play with at least nine wins for the third consecutive season.
Jada Williams had a career day with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and was one of five Wildcats with five or more rebounds. The freshman was joined in double digits by Gilbert, Esmery Martinez (15 points), Helena Pueyo (12 points), Isis Beh (10 points) and Breya Cunningham (10 points).
Cunningham nearly achieved a double-double with eight rebounds and added four blocks and two steals to her stat line, and Pueyo's four steals moved her to sixth in program history in career saves (237).
While neither team shot well in the first period, Arizona took a seven-point lead into the second quarter that it was able to extend to 30 by halftime. The Cats went on an 18-2 run in the middle of the quarter led by 10 points from Gilbert, and the squad followed up its 30-point second quarter with a 25-point third quarter.
Arizona's six players in double digits was a first in the 2023-24 season, and Beh's 10-point performance marked her first double-digit game as a Wildcat. Three members of the team were perfect from the free throw line, including Martinez's 7-for-7 rate from the charity stripe. The team recorded its best rebounding game of the year with 46 with every Wildcat who saw playing time grabbing at least two.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, Jan. 5 at 6:00 p.m. MST in McKale Center against No. 8 Colorado on the Pac-12 Network.
