Cats Cruise to 81-38 Win Over UC San Diego

TUCSON - Jada Williams scored a career-best 15 points and Breya Cunningham posted a double-double for Arizona on the way to an 81-38 win over UC San Diego on Thursday.

Williams shot 5-of-9 from the field, including a trio of three-pointers, and Cunningham tallied double-double with 12 points (6-of-7) and 10 rebounds. Cunningham added four assists, three blocks and two steals to her stat line as well.

The Tritons (3-6) got within three in the second quarter, but the Wildcats (7-2) responded with an 18-3 run fueled by eight straight points from Williams. Her personal 8-0 run during that time put the Cats up by 17.

Arizona took a 25-point lead into halftime after the 30-point second quarter and never looked back. The Cats led by 27 at the end of the third and charted a 25-point fourth quarter to take home the 43-point victory.

Salimatou Kourouma put up a 13-point performance and was one of four Wildcats with at least four rebounds. Kailyn Gilbert and Courtney Blakely each achieved double-digit scoring as well, Gilbert scoring 11 points and Blakely scoring 10. The 10 points by Blakely marked her first double-digit scoring performance at Arizona.

Skylar Jones' nine points were her most as a Wildcat, and the freshman shot a perfect 3-of-3 from the field. All of her made field goals were three-pointers.

Arizona's 10 made three-pointers were its most in a game this season, and the Wildcats forced 28 UC San Diego turnovers to also set a season high. The team's 18 steals were its second-most in a game this year.

The Wildcats return to action Wednesday, Dec. 13 in McKale Center at 7:00 p.m. as No. 5 Texas makes the trip to Tucson. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
