CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 10 Arizona (7-3) won its final game of the Clearwater Invitational, 10-1, against Indiana.
The Wildcats scored 10 runs on 12 hits with 10 RBI.
Kaiah Altmeyer and
Tayler Biehl both went 2-for-2 and three Wildcats had two RBI.
Arizona scored two in the second on an RBI single and an RBI groundout. Freshman
Sydney Somerndike (1-1) retired five straight batters in the first three innings to earn her first career win.
The Cats' offense exploded in the third for seven runs.
Carlie Scupin opened the scoring with a solo home run – her fourth homer of the season. With the bases loaded, back-to-back RBI singles from Biehl and Altmeyer drove in two more for Arizona.
Blaise Biringer reached on a fielding error to send
Izzy Pacho home and
Dakota Kennedy was hit by a pitch to bring in Arizona's seventh run of the game. Skaggs hit an RBI single to score another for the Cats. Scupin closed out the inning with an RBI groundout to score Biringer.
Arizona scored one more in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice from
Ali Ashner. In the bottom of the fifth, Indiana scored one run on an RBI double.
