FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Arizona Women's Swimming is headed to Federal Way, Wash. alongside Men's and Women's Diving for the 2023 Pac-12 Championships. Both competitions are set to begin on Wed, Feb. 22 and run through Sat, Feb. 25 at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center. Daily Coverage of the championships will be carried by the Pac-12 Networks, Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app.
The Wildcats have been posting impressive times and scores in both swimming and diving this season, with five Pac-12 weekly honors under their belts. Junior Julia Heimstead received Women's Swimmer of the Week back in January, Bjorn Markentin took home Men's Diver of the Week earlier this month, and Delaney Schnell secured Women's Diver of the Week three times this season. Throughout the competitions, the Cats are not only looking for finalist spots, but NCAA A and B cut qualifying times and scores as nationals are approaching.
Defending Pac-12 champion Delaney Schnell is looking to take the top spot once again in the 1-meter and platform diving events, which would mark her third year in a row taking the titles. Diver Bjorn Markentin was a close runner up at last years championship, taking second place in the 3-meter and third in the platform. On the swimming side, the Arizona women finished fifth as a team last season, with several individual Wildcat finalists. Among them is Heimstead, who posted three NCAA B cut times and three top ten finishes.
