TUCSON - The Arizona gymnastics team scored the third-highest mark in program history on Friday, tallying a 197.275 in a win over BYU. BYU finished the night with a 196.050.
The Wildcats' scores on bars (49.225) and floor (49.500) were their highest of the season on the events, and the team totaled 19 scores of 9.8 or better. Arizona's overall final team score was its highest since 2015 when it scored a 197.125.
Vault
All six Wildcats scored a 9.800 or higher on the opening event, Malia Hargrove leading the way with a 9.925 that was good to earn her the individual title. Danielle Nosek and Elizabeth LaRusso each recorded a 9.850 while Caroline Herry, Emily Mueller and Jessica Castles each posted a 9.800.
Bars
Arizona tallied its highest score of the season on the uneven bars with a 49.225. Alysen Fears tied her career best score of 9.925 and was closely followed by a 9.900 from Bailey McCabe. The two GymCats finished in first and second on the event, respectively. Taylor Raskin totaled a career-best 9.850 on the apparatus while Sirena Linton notched a 9.800.
Beam
Hargrove scored her second 9.925 of the night on beam, leading the squad on the event. Three Wildcats tied their season bests on the apparatus, Sirena Linton with a 9.900, Herry with a 9.875 and Fears with a 9.850.
Floor
The Cats tied the second-highest floor mark in program history with a 49.500, also a season-best. Hargrove scored her third 9.925 of the meet to tie her career best on floor. Deets also notched a career high-tying mark with a 9.925. Herry recorded a 9.900, and LaRusso and Mueller each charted a 9.875.
