Wildcat Women Wrap Up NCAA Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona is sending a team of two swimmers and two divers to the 2023 D1 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee this week. The competition will begin Wednesday, March 15 and run through Saturday, March 18 at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Arizona juniors Julia Heimstead and Maddy Burt secured their spots on the swimming side two weeks ago at the Pac-12 championships, qualifying in the 100 Fly, 200 Fly and 200 Free events. Burt will be swimming the 100 Fly after earning an NCAA B cut and qualifying with a time of 52.20. Heimstead is set to swim two events after posting a time of 1:44.83 in the 200 Free and 1:55.57 in the 200 Fly, earning NCAA B cuts for both.
Representing Arizona Diving is Delaney Schnell and Quinn Gariepy-Regan, who both qualified for all three events: the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform. Schnell is coming off two 2023 Pac-12 Championship titles in the 1m and 3m, the fifth and sixth conference crowns of her career. Last week she topped the podium in all three events at NCAA Diving Zones, setting an Arizona program record in the platform dive with a score of 392.8. Gariepy also showed out at Zones, placing fourth in the 1-meter (293.3), sixth in the platform (253.35) and seventh in the 3-meter (298.4).
