DENVER, Colo. – Arizona posted a 196.050 in round one of the Denver Regional to take down North Carolina who scored a 194.600 on Thursday. The GymCats will advance to the second round of the Regional.
The floor squad earned a 49.350, the GymCats' second-highest score on the event this season. Sophomore
Emily Mueller won the all-around with a 39.300.
Vault
Arizona scored a 48.80 on vault to open the first round of the Denver Regional.
Malia Hargrove led Arizona with a 9.825 and
Elizabeth LaRusso followed with a 9.80 as the anchor.
Caroline Herry led off the rotation with a 9.775 while
Jessica Castles and Mueller posted a pair of 9.70s.
Uneven Bars
The GymCats posted a 48.925 on bars to take a 0.025 lead over the Tar Heels after rotation 2.
Bailey McCabe scored a 9.85 while Linton and Mueller earned a pair of 9.825s.
Taylor Raskin posted a 9.725 while
Alysen Fears and LaRusso both scored 9.70s.
Balance Beam
Arizona extended its lead with a 48.975 on beam. Hargrove paced the GymCats with a 9.875 and Mueller posted a 9.85. Castles and Fears earned a pair of 9.80s.
Floor Exercise
The GymCats finished the meet with a 49.350 on floor to secure the win and advance to round two of the Denver Regional. Mueller earned a career high 9.925 to lead Arizona. Fears and Herry each scored 9.875s.
Elena Deets scored a 9.85 and LaRusso posted a 9.825.
