Bonds Earns Pac-12 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. – On Tuesday, Arizona's Talie Bonds was named the Pac-12 Women's Track Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at the Mt. SAC Relays in California last weekend.
Bonds won the women's invitational elite 100m hurdles at the meet, breaking her own school record in the process with a time of 12.65. That personal best time edged out her performance from just a week ago, where she originally set the Arizona 100m hurdles record and set a Drachman Stadium facility record in the event as well at the Jim Click Multi's and Shootout in Tucson. In her most recent victory, Bonds led the race from the get-go, winning the invitational event against both professional and collegiate hurdlers. Her time of 12.65 is third in the nation and fourth in the world. It's also fifth all-time in Pac-12 history.
Bonds has had a fantastic outdoor season, winning her last three consecutive 100m hurdle competitions. Her three fastest times in the event (12.65, 12.67, 12.96) rank third, fourth, and seventh in the NCAA. This success started in the indoor season, where she placed seventh overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60m hurdles and was named a First Team All-American. She matched/broke the Arizona school record in the event four different times throughout the year, so Bonds is very familiar with the Arizona record book. She has also had multiple top finishes in her secondary event, the high jump. In her three competitions this outdoor season, she has won the event twice and placed second once. Her season best mark on the year is a height of 1.80m (5-10.75).
Next up on Bonds' radar is the Desert Heat Classic at Drachman Stadium on April 29. The Las Vegas native and senior leader will get one last opportunity to compete at home on senior night and hopefully break her own school record once again.
