FORT WORTH, Texas – Led by a podium finish from freshman Dana Prikrylova with a time of 1:08:39, Arizona Triathlon earned fifth place with 128 points at the Battle for Fort Worth. Sunday's race was the second competition in program history after competing in a Duathlon against Arizona State two weeks ago.
"We took a lot of steps in the right direction today, and I am so proud of this team," said head coach
Wes Johnson. "We had a good result today without one of our top racers who is participating in the U-23 World Championships next week. With such a new team with varying levels of experience, I am very optimistic about our direction moving forward.  I am also very happy to see Dana on the podium in our first full face, which shows you how great the potential of this team is."
The Wildcats also got top-20 times from junior Laura Holanszky and sophomore Molly Lakutiak with finishes of 1:09:52 and 1:11:29 respectively. Holanszky, who has represented her home nation of Hungary in international competition, also posted Arizona's best time in the swim portion of the race with a time of 10:31 on Sunday.
Arizona finished within 10 seconds of first-place TCU in the team standings after posting a cumulative team time of 5:57:37.
The Wildcats will return to action next month at the Western Regional Championships in Missouri, which will begin on Saturday, Oct. 14.
