TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball seniors
Carlie Scupin and
Allie Skaggs have been named to the USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, announced on Wednesday.
Scupin, a senior from Tucson, Arizona, is making her second appearance on the Watch List. The first baseman led the Wildcats with a .745 slugging percentage and earned second-team NFCA All-West honors. Scupin totaled 10 doubles, 10 home runs, and 37 RBI during the 2023 season.
Skaggs, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky, is also making her first appearance on the Top 50 Watch List. The second baseman earned the Rawlings Gold Glove and was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year after finishing the 2023 season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Offensively, Skaggs led Arizona with 14 home runs and 64 RBI to earn NFCA All-Region honors.
Scupin and Skaggs have also been named to the D1 Softball Top 100 and Softball America's Preseason College Top 100 rankings for the 2024 season.
Arizona will open the 2024 season with the third-annual Candrea Classic at Hillenbrand Stadium on February 8-11. The Cats will host Lipscomb, North Texas, Northern Colorado, and Utah Tech.
