BOSTON, Mass. – Arizona Track & Field kicked off the two-day River Hawk Invitational on Friday, hosted by UMass Lowell at the TRACK at new balance. All the women's events were completed on Friday, with the men's events scheduled for Saturday. The Arizona Women dominated the day finishing with seven top-three placings and a trio of wins for
Tapenisa Havea in the shot put,
McKenna Watson in the 200m, and
Taylen Wise in the triple jump.

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Tapenisa Havea won the women's shot put for the Wildcats in dominating fashion. Her winning throw on the day of 51-0 (15.54m) was over one meter greater than the next best thrower. She now has two shot put victories this season.
Taylen Wise secured another field event win for the Wildcats, coming away victorious in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 41-7 (12.67m). In what was her first triple jump competition of the season, Wise earned her first victory on the season as well.
In the long jump,
Jenica Bosko notched a second-place finish with a leap of 19-8.75 (6.01m). She now has back-to-back finishes in the top three of the long jump at her last two competitions.
Lauryn Ford also finished ninth in the event for the Wildcats.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
Day one started on the track for the Wildcats with the women's 60m. In the prelims of the event,
Jade Brown (7.52) and
McKenna Watson (7.57) finished second and third to advance to the event's finals. Both finished first in their preliminary heats as well. Then in the finals, the two produced nearly identical times and finishes, with Brown placing second overall with a time of 7.52 and Watson finishing in third with a time of 7.56, which is a season best.
The success continued for these Wildcats in the women's 200m, as
McKenna Watson won the event, clocking a time of 23.85, in what was her first victory of the indoor season. Fellow Wildcat
Jade Brown ran a time of 24.29 and finished fourth overall. Watson and Brown both ran in the same heat and finished first and second in that race. Additionally, Brown has now finished in the top four in every event she has competed in so far this season.
In the women's 3000m,
Sailor Hutton clocked a personal best time of 9:31.15 and finished second overall. The senior has now improved her PR time in each of the two 3000m races she has competed in this indoor season.
Ava Simms finished fifth overall in the women's 400m and competed in her first 200m of the season.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will finish the two-day River Hawk Invitational tomorrow in Boston, Mass., with the completion of all the men's events. Field events begin at 7:00 a.m. MST and track events get started at 7:30 a.m. MST.
