Tyler Loop Named Lou Groza Star of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona kicker Tyler Loop made a career-high three field goals to earn Lou Groza Star of the Week, as announced today by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

Loop's career-high three field goals helped the Wildcats defeat the No. 10 Utah Utes 23-10 last Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah. He booted field goals from 47, 53, and 33 yards on his way to a career day kicking the ball.

College football's top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week."

The senior from Lucas, Texas scored all of Arizona's points in the first and third quarters, giving the Wildcats a 13-point lead going into the fourth. The 3-for-4 performance actually lowered his career field goal percentage to 84.8%, the second-best career rate by an active kicker with at least 50 attempts.

Loop leads all Arizona kickers in program history with an 84.8%-career field goal percentage. He is fourth among Arizona kickers in career scoring with 283 points (115 extra points, 56 FG). Loop made two extra points to remain a perfect 115-of-115 for his career in point-after attempts.
