Arizona dominates with 84-59 win over West Texas A & M

Tucson, Ariz.- The Wildcats started the season off strong with a 84-59 victory against West Texas A&M in Arizona's first exhibition match. 

Sophomore guard Jada Williams made her triumphant return to McKale Center, leading the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points. Williams was followed closely by North Carolina transfer Paulina Paris, who scored 13 points for Arizona. The Cats spent nearly 36 of the game's 40 minutes with the lead, and at one point in the 4th quarter went on a 12-0 scoring run. 

The Cats shot 48.7% to maintain their strong lead throughout most of the game. Freshmen Katarina Kneževic and Lauryn Swann had standout debuts in McKale Center, scoring 6 and 7 points respectively. As a whole the Wildcats saw a balanced scoring effort, with 12 players earning points for the team and the Wildcat bench earning 34 of the team's 84 points.

The Wildcat defense also put up a strong front against the Buffaloes, totaling 15 steals in the game. Paris and Sahnya Jah each earned four steals of their own. 

Arizona will next face Cal State, Los Angeles in another exhibition match on Tuesday, Oct. 29 in McKale Center.
