Tucson, Ariz. - In a balanced scoring effort, Arizona women's basketball won their season opener with a 73-54 defeat of the University of Texas Arlington.
The Wildcats had four players score in double figures, with Breya Cunningham, Isis Beh, Jada Williams, and Sahnya Jah each contributing 10 points. Paulina Paris and Mailien Rolf followed closely, with Rolf and Lauryn Swann combining for 17 points off the bench in their collegiate debuts. Rolf also grabbed six rebounds.
Cunningham secured a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Beh delivered an all-around performance with eight rebounds, one assist, and four steals, underscoring her defensive impact.
Arizona's bench was pivotal as they outscored UT Arlington's reserves 30-8.
Offensively, Arizona shot 39.7% from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc, while the Mavericks managed 32.7% overall.
UT Arlington was able to score 19 points off Arizona turnovers, but Arizona's defense limited the Mavericks' scoring opportunities in the paint, winning that battle 40-22.
Arizona led for 39 minutes and 29 seconds, with their largest margin stretching to 24 points in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats will stay at home to face Tarleton State on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:00 p.m. in McKale Center.
